Access to Justice

ALTERNATIVE JUSTICE SYSTEM

The Mainstream and traditional justice system can be inadequate in addressing the complex needs of vulnerable populations, such as children, women, and marginalized communities. Muslim Association Nakuru works with the Judicial System and the local Leaders to increase access to justice through establishment of alternative justice system Suit (AJS) that will promote healing, rehabilitation, and social reintegration.

Why Alternative Justice Matters:

  1. Restorative Justice: Alternative justice System (AJS) approaches focus on restoring relationships and promoting healing, rather than simply punishing individuals.
  2. Community Engagement: Alternative Justice System (AJS Suit) engages communities in the justice process, promoting social cohesion and ownership.
  3. Cultural Sensitivity: Alternative justice system approaches acknowledge the cultural diversity of communities and address specific needs and concerns.
  4. Reducing Recidivism: Alternative justice system programs will reduce recidivism rates by addressing underlying issues and providing support for reintegration.

EFFECTIVE ALTERNATIVE JUSTICE INTERVENTIONS:

  2. Mediation and Conflict Resolution: Provide mediation and conflict resolution services to resolve disputes peacefully.
  3. Community Service: Organize community services that promotes social reintegration and community engagement.
  4. Life Skills Training: Offer life skills training programs that empower individuals with skills for personal growth and development.
  5. Mentorship Programs: Establish mentorship programs that pair individuals with trained mentors who provide guidance and support.
